| History
In 1960 Walter Salje founded a company in Bielefeld to market
boards (production pallets) for the concrete block making
industry. Heinz Bechtold bought this company after many
years in the business and renamed the business WASA Unterlagsplatten
GmbH. Over the years WASA formed a close working relationship
with local and Far Eastern manufacturers of softwood and
hardwood pallets. This synergy and co-operation allowed
WASA to flourish and

grow this business.
1991 a factory and land, a former Agricultural Production
Cooperative (LPG), was bought in Neubrunn/
Thuringia. The existing factory buildings were refurbished
and new buildings were erected to facilitate the production
of plastic boards. This kind of board is produced exclusively
by WASA.
1996 a new sales office was built in Mossautal.
